The ✅ License verified badge means we found a current license on a public state record that matches the business name and location. Here’s exactly how we check.
Where we check
- Roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical: Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR) license search at myfloridalicense.com. The status must say “Current, Active.”
- Septic: the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) list of active septic business authorizations, DEP septic authorizations.
- Water well drilling: Florida water well contractors are licensed through the water management districts. We use the Suwannee River Water Management District licensed contractor list.
- Tree and land clearing: Florida has no state trade license for this work, so these listings show “License check pending” until the business sends us proof of insurance.
What the badge does and doesn’t mean
- It means the license was current on the date shown on the listing.
- It doesn’t rate workmanship, price or reviews, and it isn’t an endorsement.
- Licenses can lapse. Each listing links to the public record so you can re-check it before you hire.
- Paid Featured placement never changes a badge. Badges can’t be bought.
Re-checks and corrections
We plan to re-check licenses regularly and remove the badge if a license is no longer current. Spot a mistake? Tell us and we’ll fix it.
